The Crisis We Can’t Ignore: Violence in Our Schools
Share
My heart aches each time another school shooting or stabbing makes headlines.
We must ask ourselves difficult questions.
Why are so many young people carrying wounds that go unseen?
Why are so many children surrounded by constant connection, yet struggling with loneliness, anger, and despair?
No side or reason justifies this.
Schools should be safe havens, not places where fear looms.
Every act of violence is a reminder that we cannot ignore the emotional, moral, and spiritual formation of our youth.
Despite a hyper-connected world, our kids are increasingly isolated and hurting.
Put the devices down and tune into your children’s emotional lives.
Grades matter, but their well-being matters more.
Life will bring disappointment, rejection, failure, and heartbreak. Yet no circumstance can justify choosing violence over understanding, or harm over healing.
This isn’t just a school issue.
It’s a family, community, and cultural issue.
We cannot tolerate passive parenting or apathetic leadership anymore.
We are called to build a society where every child feels seen, valued, protected, and loved. If you’re in a position to change something—do it.
Let us Pray for the students, parents, teachers, and families affected by these tragedies. May our schools be places where young people discover their God-given dignity, develop their talents, and grow without fear.
Let us raise a generation that chooses compassion over cruelty, dialogue over division, and peace over violence.
May God bless and protect all our children.
